A Show of Force
Take action by Thursday, May 31, 2007
Our letter to the
Wal-Mart Board of Directors is really going to
open some eyes in Bentonville.
It's
passionate, it's compelling and best of all,
it's signed by thousands of your fellow
Wal-Mart Watch supporters. There's only one
thing missing – your signature.
Read the
letter, add your name, and demand that the
Board of Directors make Wal-Mart a responsible
corporate citizen:

At
its June 1st meeting, the Board of Directors
will determine Wal-Mart's policies for the next
year. If we overwhelm them with support for a
new direction, they'll finally have to
listen.
The only way we'll find out,
though, is with a massive show of force and
unity. We're up against the largest company in
the world and our strength comes from our
numbers.
That’s where you come in. Sign
the letter and show them that we’re not backing
down:

For too long Wal-Mart has gotten away with
bullying their employees, polluting the
environment, and taking more than their fair
share from America's communities. They've gone
about their business with a reckless disregard
for anything other than the bottom
line.
That's a far cry from Sam Walton's
vision for his company. He saw Wal-Mart as a
corporate leader in compassion, integrity and
fairness. Sam once said,
Maybe the most important way in which we at Wal-Mart believe in giving something back is through our commitment to using the power of this enormous enterprise as a force for change.
Under its current leadership, Wal-Mart has
been a force for change for the worse. That's
not what Sam envisioned.
Our letter to
the Board of Directors reminds them of Sam's
positive vision for Wal-Mart, and it demands
that they return the company to that ideal.
Read the letter, sign it, and tell the Board to
finally make Wal-Mart a force for
good.
