Is Wal-Mart good for Ohio? Our state economy is faltering. Ohio needs career jobs, emergency and social services, educational reform, and major improvements to the infrastructure. Unless Wal-Mart changes, it will be a real struggle to turn things around.
The truth of the matter is Wal-Mart places an unfair burden on the citizens of Ohio. We subsidize Wal-Mart employee’s health care (Wal-Mart has more workers on public assistance than any other corporation in Ohio); high paying and career jobs disappear; and property values are lowered. Wal-Mart made over $11 billion in profits last year- they do not need anymore of our public money.
