Tell President Bush his reckless escalation plan is not the will of the people

In the President's State of the Union address, it was stay the course on Iraq. It seems the President thought he still had a Republican Rubber Stamp Congress who would write him a blank check for his escalation plan. Those days are over. It is a new day with a new Democratic Congress.

A few days ago, my colleague Congressman Jack Murtha asked you to join him and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) in voicing your opposition to the President's escalation plan for Iraq. We need to make it clear to President Bush that his plan does not reflect the will of the American people. More than 40,000 of our DCCC supporters answered our call - but we want to have 50,000 people sign onto our petition. Will you join us?

I hope that you will take the time now to join our call to action. The President's change in tactics is not a real strategy for success in Iraq. The Democratic majority is leading this country in a new direction, and we are going to provide real oversight, and demand accountability. We are going to ask the tough questions that the Rubber Stamp Republicans won't, but we need your voice and your support.
